My name is Charles (Chip) Iley, A.K.A. KJ4QCV

Welcome to my little corner of the Amateur Radio World.

My first encounter with Amateur Radio was when I was in the Boy Scouts in Baltimore, MD. Our Council had a "Jamboree on the air". A local operator set up a DX station and let us to talk to other operators from around the world. I got to speak with a gentleman in New Zealand. From MD! How cool.

The experience went forgotten for many years, when last year I saw an add for a HamFest minutes from my house. Well I was hooked a week after the Hamfest I was taking the test for my Technician Class license. Been a Tech for about a year as of this writing. Right after taking my test I joined up with the Kingsport Amateur Radio Club and love being in the company of many like minded and often times comical individuals.
